celebrations

My wife, Susan, and I celebrated our 9th anniversary this past week. We lived together for 5 years prior to being married. But due to same-sex marriage we’re waiting for our marriage to fall apart, to crumble, to trickle away.

Still waiting . . .

Still waiting . . .

Still waiting . . .

Still together. Looks like everything’s just fine.

Congratulations! Can’t think of anything sarcastic to add; I’m sure she’s a wonderful woman with a terrific name, makes cute kids, sounds intelligent from what you’ve ever mentioned, and has the patience of a saint. You’re a lucky man! And she, of course, has you.

9 years? Wow, that’s great, congrats. I’ll bet you two sit at the dinner table and debate for hours. Do you get her all riled up and then do that smirking thing you do, as you wait for her to argue back? Susan probably says, “Steve, I can never tell when you’re kidding! Grrrrr”. That’s my little imaginary conversation between the 2 of you. Oh, and since I am writing this anyway, I want you to know that I really enjoyed your class. It was a riot fighting with you every week. I wish I could take your next class, but it won’t fit my schedule. Oh well. I was going to send you an email to tell you I had good times on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but this’ll be good enough. I will email you in a week or so about my paper! Oh, and one more congrats to you and your woman. Ciao.

“You and your woman,” she says. This is the first time I’ve ever heard you take your wife’s name. Before today, she was always “My Wife.”

Happy Anniversary (albiet belated) to a couple who deserves to be together. ‘Tis an extraordinary woman who can meet you head on. Congratulations.

I love it! I though I won most of the prizes for sarcasm, but I now pass my crown to you.
Many congratulations to you and Susan. She sounds like a wonderful and patient woman(written at the risk of repeating the others’ comments).
If you’re anything like my husband Joe, the better your mood, the more challenging you become. I’m certain Susan has the strength to give it right back to you. She’s had many years to practice and I wish the two of you many more happy and healthy ones. Congratulations again!

First, Congrats Steve! It must be nice to have a solid relationhip..to have that bond that steels you against the other storms of life..:)

I’m glad that no one is being sarcastic..let’s save that for political discussions..;) [President, etc.]

In this cold, cynical world..let’s celebrate the successess! Here Here! Cheers!

    Most Graciously,

    Maureen

Thanks everyone, and welcome Marji to the blogosphere. It was a pleasure debating. Perhaps more will be in store for the future.

Just so you all know, Susan is both a woman and a force. I’m just hoping that Bush loses the next election or I’ll have to duck.

Seriously, I love to go to work and I love to go home. That’s pretty much my story.

    Steve,

Simply to find a woman who can hold her own against you makes her quite a find. To know that she has spent 14 years with you makes her even more special.

Congratulations and may you have many more years of happiness together.

Oh yeah and here’s hoping that Bush loses.
