"Rideable Vehicles" by John Timmons

Release along with the source text and a website.

The story description is "The rideable vehicle object allows us to create something that we can ride on such as a horse, bicycle, motorcycle, skateboard, or even a sea horse. This example uses the Rideable Vehicles extension written by Graham Nelson included in every copy of Inform 7."

Include Rideable Vehicles by Graham Nelson. [1]

The Driveway is a room. "There is a street to the north."

The Street is north of the Driveway. "The driveway is off to the south."

[You can get onto your rideable vehicle by typing 'ride'. To get out of the vehicle, you can type 'exit'. To drive the vehicle, simply type in the direction you wish to go just as you normally would.]

The motorcycle is a rideable vehicle in the Driveway. The description is "Hmm, nice Harley." Understand "harley" and "bike" as the motorcycle.

Carry out going somewhere by motorcycle:

say "You rev the engine and ride the bike to . . .".

After mounting the motorcycle:

say "You settle comfortably on the seat and fire it up."

Instead of dismounting:

say "Instead of shutting the motor down, you decide you'd like to keep riding."

Note

[1]. Just include this line exactly as written here. This extension is conveniently built into every copy of Inform 7.
