Questions of Value

I’ve been thinking about “place design.” I hope my students are too.

But I think colleges need to do more to provide experience for students. So, here’s the deal. Internships for artists, game designers, graphic designers (message artists), architects and coders, and ecologists on urban planning committees.

Brownfields? Give them to the students, and I’m talking the freshmen.

Great idea–as long as it doesn’t exploit students–since it is beneficial to both. And, from my own hometown:
“DERBY — (Oct. 27) The city has reached out to Yale University’s School of Architecture to see if faculty or students would like to help with design work for the inside of the historic Sterling Opera House. The building, which was built in 1889 and is on the National Register of Historic Places, has been vacant for years. Work to repair the structure has been ongoing. The city is using grant money to fix the side and rear exterior walls and replace windows and doors.”
